A subluxation occurs when the spinal vertebrae are misaligned or have improper movement affecting nerve communication between the brain and the body. Your nervous system controls every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. These nerve impulses travel through your spine. So having a spine free of subluxations is essential for optimal health.
There are three basic causes of subluxations. Physical causes could include slips and falls, accidents, repetitive motions and poor postural habits. Emotions such as grief, anger and fear can contribute to subluxations. Chemical causes could include alcohol, drugs, pollution and poor diet.
You can have subluxations and not even know it. Like the early stages of tooth decay or cancer, subluxations can be present before warning signs appear. The results of a thorough examination can show the location and severity of subluxations you may have.
X-rays can be helpful, but are not required in every patient’s case. We will determine if x-rays are necessary once we review your health history and examine your spine. Our x-ray analysis is designed to accurately and safely help locate the cause of your problem, and allows us to begin care with no guesswork. Our office only takes those x-rays which are necessary.
Patients report that being adjusted feels great. However, in some cases the individual may be sore the first couple of times. An adjustment takes only a minute or two, but the vital nerve energy it releases can last for hours, days, or even weeks, depending on the stage of your care.
Absolutely not. Doctors of Chiropractic are primary health care providers, meaning you do not need a referral. If yours is not a Chiropractic case, your Chiropractor will refer you to the appropriate health care provider.
For patients who have an insurance plan that contributes to chiropractic care, we provide a "superbill" which has all of the diagnostic codes that your insurance needs to see in order to provide you reimbursement for the services we provide. However, in our center we don't base your care on availability of insurance. We offer affordable and custom care plans as well as affordable family plans.
YES! We love the amount of children and families we care for! The doctors have advanced training and have extensive experience taking care of infants, children and teens. After school hours are some of our favorite times because of the influx of families!
There are actually a variety of reasons for a child to see a chiropractor. In fact, the #1 reason children see a chiropractor is for wellness. Many parents nowadays are choosing to be proactive with their children’s health, rather than reactive.
This fits perfectly with chiropractic, which is wellness-based and thus proactive and preventative. Many of our parents bring their newborn infants to our center within days of their birth, or we provide a home visit to check them sooner.
Other common reasons for children to see a chiropractor include difficulty nursing, colic, and ear/sinus infections, which are all conditions often caused by problems with the upper neck that likely were caused by birth trauma such as C-section or forceps delivery. Parents also bring their kids to a chiropractor to help fight off colds and immune system issues.
Since chiropractic seeks to restore balance and proper function to the nervous system, chiropractic for these kids often has life-altering changes!
Absolutely! In fact, chiropractic care is very beneficial during pregnancy. Not only does it allow for the mother to feel her best throughout the entire process but by balancing the nervous system, relieving stress, improving pelvic alignment and decreasing any tightness in the pelvic muscles/ligaments it can prepare a mother for her best labor yet!
Our doctors are certified in Webster’s Technique, which is specifically designed for adjusting pregnant mothers.
